Fire and Explosion Investigation

Fire and explosion investigation is a key area of our work. Our investigators are experienced in determining the cause and origin of fires and all aspects of spread and resultant fire or explosion damage. We understand the need to be able to accurately prove the cause and effect of fires and explosions in relation to insurance policy requirements and possible recovery from other parties.

Our experience allows us to handle all types and sizes of cases and report accordingly. From multi million pound losses to smaller cases involving perhaps one item of equipment the same robust approach to investigation is adopted mindful of the needs of our clients to know all relevant information.

In larger cases computer modelling can provide an insight into many aspects of a fire including ignition, spread, development and the impact of passive and active fire protection systems. We are experienced in the specification, monitoring and reporting of CFD modelling of fires and have close links with specialist CFD modellers at the forefront of their field.

Marine Fire and Explosion Investigation

Fires and explosions on ships are a specialist area in which Zetetech investigators have considerable experience. We have investigated incidents aboard many types of vessel including container ships, car carriers, tankers, chemical tankers, vehicle and passenger ferries, bulk carriers and private yachts.

Incidents investigated have included fires involving cargoes of all different types and engine rooms and associated machinery.

We are comfortable working in the shipping environment and understand the particular requirements of operating in this field.

Our investigators frequently attend incidents overseas and have undertaken investigations in many countries throughout the world.

Escapes of Water and Fluids

An increasing amount of our work is involved with the investigation of escapes of water and other fluids. Such incidents can cause considerable losses and as with fire and explosion investigation early attendance to gather all pertinent information is key to the outcome of a case.

Our investigators have investigated incidents on all scales involving many different types of systems and fittings.

Investigation of escapes of water and fluids can help to ascertain whether the problem lies in manufacturing defect, installation error, system design including environmental considerations or, as is often the case, a combination of these factors.

Mechanical Failure

Severe losses can be incurred due to the failure of machinery and mechanical systems. At Zetetech we understand that the investigation of such losses must take into account the actual cause of the problem but also ongoing subsequent losses due to down time. As such early response and appropriate intervention is paramount.
